LIVELIHOODS

THEME OBJECTIVE

Champion a strong social protection agenda for the vulnerable in our communities

We have partnered with the Kenyan government to distribute food reliefs to
extremely vulnerable communities. In distributing food, we adhere to our guiding policies to ensure that our processes are conducted with integrity, transparency, and efficiency.

  • Integrity: We uphold the principle of integrity by ensuring that all food items are distributed exclusively to those in need within the community. This means that we maintain a strict policy to prevent any diversion or misuse of the resources meant for the vulnerable individuals or families.
  • Transparency and Accountability: We maintain transparency throughout the distribution process by allowing community representatives to observe and oversee the operations. This ensures that every step of the distribution is visible and accountable to the community. By involving community representatives, we enhance trust and confidence in our actions and decisions.

  • Stewardship: We practice stewardship by responsibly managing and planning the distribution of food donations. This involves careful consideration of the needs of the community, efficient allocation of resources, and ensuring that the food reaches those who need it most. Stewardship also entails minimizing waste and maximizing the impact of the donations.

  • Internal Control Systems: We implement robust internal control systems to safeguard the distribution process against errors, fraud, or misuse. These systems included checks and balances, documentation of transactions, and verification mechanisms to ensure the accuracy and fairness of the distribution.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: We conduct ongoing monitoring and evaluation of the distribution activities to assess their effectiveness and impact. This involves tracking the distribution process, collecting feedback from beneficiaries and stakeholders, and analyzing data to identify areas for improvement. Monitoring and evaluation allows us to continuously refine our approach and make evidence-based decisions to better serve the community.
  • Evidence-based Activities: We base our distribution activities on evidence and data to ensure that they are informed by the actual needs and circumstances of the community. This involves conducting assessments, surveys, and research to gather relevant information about food insecurity, demographics, and other factors influencing the distribution process. By relying on evidence, we tailor our interventions to address specific challenges and achieve meaningful outcomes.
